More "trimming!"

Ben decided to trim the bushes!

I wish I had a before picture. Some of the shrubs were dying; they had completely overgrown the area, so Ben decided to "trim" them. Laura Beth came home and said, "How embarassing!" Ben assures us they will grow back beautifully!

Sweet Pictures of the Family!

Hello Family & Friends! It's been quite a week! There's a lot going on at the church where I attend and also work as well as with my own family. Dad is back in the hospital and my brother, Herk-as we call him-is in the hospital as well. I was able to go to Garland and see Herk and also my other brother Eddie and sister-in-law, Karen. Herk looked good. He was truly bored! When I arrived at the hospital he met me outside to bring me up to his room! He said it was a little tricky to find so he would meet me downstairs. He was fully dressed and waiting for me at the sidewalk outside the hospital. I think if I had given him half the chance he would have left with me! His infected arm looks much better. The doctors feel like he is improving but he will probably be there until Sunday.

As ya'll in Alabama know, dad is back in ICU but doing much better. It has been such a roller coaster since dad had his cancer treatment! I am anxious to see all of ya'll again. Thanks mom, Barbara, Nicki, Laura Leigh, David and all the family for helping to take care of my dad. Mom-TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF, TOO!

At our house Ben and Jason have been sick with lots of congestion, some fever and sore throat, and lots and lots of drainage. They are both on antibiotics. Heather started getting sick yesterday. She and Lee and Gabriel all spent the night last night. There power went out at their house. Since we've had the most amount of snow ever, there have been lots of power outages-limbs breaking, etc.

The picture of Jason is from yesterday, Feb. 11th. It had just started snowing. The pictures at the top are from early this morning. I'm not sure how many inches of snow we had, but it was absolutely beautiful first thing this morning, before it started melting. It doesn't snow that much in Canton, so this was nice to see.

Rainy Days & First Monday

This past weekend was First Monday, also known as Trade Days, in Canton, Texas. We have one of the largest Flea Markets in the world, if not "the" largest. It is really quite an experience to come to First Monday. It is the weekend of the first Monday of each month. It isn't open on Monday, though. Just the Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of the first Monday of the month. As you can imagine, most months there are tourists in town on the first Monday of the month wondering where all the vendors went!
My husband and I always go to First Monday. Our small town grows considerably in number those few days of the month and there are always interesting things to see. Vendors come from all over the country to set up their booths. There is everything imaginable-new or used. And for some odd reason it seems to rain so many of those weekends! Well, we had a break in the cold, rainy weather this past Sunday afternoon, so we headed to First Monday grounds to see what we could find. Ben, my husband, bought me a used cello for quite a steal! It is pictured below. I guess I'll need to find a way to take lessons.

Ben is also pictured below doing his favorite thing-napping in the recliner. Take note of his left hand. It's on the remote-even in his sleep!

Nothing else going on today, so I'll close.

January Birthdays

Well hello everyone. It's been a long time since I put anything on my blog. Actually my mom set my blog up for me. She and dad have moved to Alabama so I will need to keep them current by keeping up with my blog. I am sure it will take me a while to get the hang of it, but I learned how to do our church website, so surely I can tackle this.

Two of my daughter's birthdays are in January as well as my mom and both my sisters and my only granddaughter, so we have been celebrating birthdays this month! My granddaughter, Kylee, celebrated her 3rd birthday at Discovery Place in Tyler. She had fallen asleep in the car on the way to her party so when she got there she wasn't in the best of moods, but she finally woke up and had a great time!

After this party, Saturday, Jan. 30th, Summer and Kyle, Heather and Lee, Jason and some of their other friends went out to eat to celebrate Summer's 32nd birthday. Ben and I kept the three grandkids. Then Sunday, Jan. 31st, everyone came to our house so Ben and I could celebrate Summer's birthday after church.

All in all, a great weekend!
